    Columbia Connects 2015

Columbia ConnectsWe're back once again at Taboo Palm Beach - to start off the Club year and catch up with our accomplished Columbia Alumni in a lively evening of conversation and fun.  We have a private area all to ourselves, and Taboo has graciously decided to provide some lite bites and hors d'oeuvres for our enjoyment.  In response to people's requests last year, we have included one drink ticket, good for one wine or beer for the event.  Please come meet your fellow club members!

Tickets are $15, $18 at the door.

While we are at it, over the years your current board has dwindled - some of us have retired, some of us have moved away, and we are now recruiting interested volunteers to be part of the board.  We always need accounting skills and event planning skills!  Join the board and be part of making the Palm Beach Columbia Alumni Community a vibrant and active one!

TICKETING FOR THIS EVENT IS CLOSED!  WE'LL SEE YOU AT THE POLO!

Annual Meeting and 3rd Annual Polo Brunch

Join the Columbia University Club of the Palm Beaches for our signature event and a Palm Beach Club tradition.   A brief club meeting is followed by a fabulous afternoon of feasting, imbibing, and spectating - polo - the sport of kings!

Mix and mingle with your fellow club members and join us for our annual meeting as we introduce your board and let you know about upcoming club events. Receive a glass of champagne and a spot at the premiere VIP tables in the polo pavilion. Passed hors d’oeuvres are followed by an extravagant brunch, with chef stations and an extensive seasonal menu.

Want to know more?  See what you will be experiencing HERE!  What is served?  Here's the Buffet!  Where will you sit?  Here's where you will be seated.   Pictures of previous year's events are here.

Once the match begins, continue to enjoy the buffet, and use one of your two additional drink tickets as you watch an international circuit polo match.  The horses will thunder by your seats - bring your cameras!  At half time, participate in the stomping of the divots, and then return for the second half and dessert.  We guarantee you will be entertained!

Children are welcome at this family friendly event.  We think they’ll enjoy it just as much as you will.

We are back at the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach for their Thursdays after dark series. Immediately following the tour, we have arranged for an afterparty at TABLE 26, within walking distance of the Norton.  We'll walk over and enjoy two hours of lite bites and hors d'ouevres on the terrace of Table 26.  Cash bar for drinks.

If you can't make the tour at the Norton, please feel free to come to TABLE 26 instead for the social opportunity with your fellow Columbia alums!  We should be there at 7:30pm at the latest.

Columbia Club of the Palm Beaches Outreach Event for 2015.

Thursday, April 30th, 6.30 p.m. to benefit the Gray Mockingbird  Community Garden in Lake Worth.

Join us for a social gathering at the Garden, including wine and cheese, followed by an aerial demonstration by our own Tina Reine (Business School 2001).

The Gray Mockingbird Garden is located at: 2000 N D Street, Lake Worth, FL 33460.  For more information on the Garden check their web page:  http://www.graymockingbird.com

Tickets are $20 for paid members of the Club and $25 for guests.  This includes one glass of wine or two soft drinks.  At least $10 of each ticket will be donated to Gray Mockingbird.

IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING TICKETING: Please note that because of our relationship with the IPC Wellington and Aaron's catering, all tickets are being sold at a DISCOUNT to regular admission!  We prefer that all alumni become dues paying annual members, you can do so HERE by clicking on the blue Join box.  The club is supported by annual memberships.  One $30 annual membership entitles the member to purchase one discounted member's level ticket for him or herself only. Please note that due to the nature of the event, there can be no cancellations or refunds.  Your board thanks you for your understanding.

ALSO IMPORTANT: Only enter below the NUMBER of tickets you are purchasing (typically 1 or 2).  Entering a larger number may result in a high charge to your credit card!

FINALLY:  We are hearing from a minority of our members that when they try to purchase tickets they are unsuccessful.  This may be a browser incompatibility issue - we are currently working with our vendor to address this issue.  We suggest a 2nd attempt.  If this still does not work, please email us at columbiaclubpalmbeach@gmail.com so we can issue the tickets in another manner.

n2wine1.pngCome start the New Year off right with a fun Columbia Alumni networking event at the N2 Wine Bar!  We love our south Palm Beach County alumni - those in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach.  We're also inviting those members of the South Florida Alumni Club who live in Broward County to encourage even more diversity!  Club members who just love wine can come too!  We're having the event at the congenial N2 Wine Bar in Delray Beach's Pineapple Grove, where wine lovers can sample an extensive collection of different varietals from all over the world - 64 different tastings available to you at the push of a button!  And if that isn't enough, another 40 wines by the glass are kept behind the bar.  The owner, an oneophile will guide us through some of his selections that evening as well.  And craft beers are also available for those with an aversion to the grape.  We will provide some light hors d'ouevres to complement the wine, good company, and great conversation.   While you stop by, please chat with your board members and volunteers about what you're doing so we can include your professional achievements in our quarterly club newsletter!  Find out about upcoming events, and have a generally great time!

Your admission fee includes a card loaded with $5 in credit so you can get started with your first glass of wine.  Admission is $10 for Palm Beach club dues-paying annual club members, and $15 for all others.  If you need to, you can become an annual dues paying member here first.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Come in the morning when Director Brian Kirsch will tell us about the history of the garden and role it plays in the community's food system, and give us a brief tour. Then we’ll all get to work!

Do make sure to bring your outside clothes, a hat, glasses, and sunscreen! Gardening gloves if you have them. Comfortable shoes a must!

Norton Art Museum in West Palm Beach, FL

    Norton2014

Hello fellow Palm Beach Columbia Club members!

We are meeting at the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach to join their Thursdays after dark series. This Thursday's (2/27) theme is Curator's Conversation: To Jane, Love Andy (Warhol). Acoustic rock will be performed by Jeff Harding while you stroll around. This is a free-form event, and we will be meeting at the entrance to the Norton from 6pm - 6:15pm. Look for our club president, Lindy Gallagher.  While there is no charge from your Columbia Club, there is a half-price admission to the Norton required which will be $6 ($2.50 for students), free for 12 and under. If you can't make it exactly at six, don't fret - just come and enjoy the event on your own time. Get a little culture with the Columbia Club of the Palm Beaches!

    Annual Meeting 2014

    Annual Meeting and Polo Brunch

Miami has the Heat. Tampa has the Buccaneers. Daytona has NASCAR. We’re the Palm Beaches. We have...POLO!

Join the Columbia University Club of the Palm Beaches for our signature event of the season and a Palm Beach tradition. We’ll be combining the club’s (brief) annual meeting with a fantastic afternoon of sport and great food.

Arrive and receive a glass of champagne and a spot at the premiere VIP tables in the polo pavilion. Mix and mingle with your fellow club members and join us for our annual meeting as we introduce your board and let you know about upcoming club events. Snack on some passed hors d’oeuvres and then head for the main event—a sumptuous brunch, including chef stations and an extensive seasonal menu.

Once the game begins, continue to enjoy the buffet, or use one of your two additional drink tickets as you watch the exciting game of polo—the sport of kings! Experience the thrilling thundering of the horses and the skill of their riders. At half time, participate in the stomping of the divots, and then return for the second half and dessert. After the game, watch the trophy awarded, and stay for the after-party.

Children are welcome at this family friendly event. We think they’ll enjoy it just as much as you will.

    Date: Sunday, February 9
    1:15–2 p.m. Annual meeting
